Welcome to our channel from Oceanside, California! Featuring high-quality LIVE camera streams and hundreds of recorded videos, we bring you Olive, our resident Allen’s hummingbird mother. Olive returned in January 2023 to produce three successful clutches!

Olive is a year-round hummingbird who has been living in our backyard for several years now. She is believed to be about 2-3 years old. She spends her days in the Ficus tree on our patio, which protected by shades. At night, she sleeps in some of the larger trees in the yard. She pollinates and feeds from a large variety of wildflowers found in our area, as well as her very own hummingbird feeder at the kitchen window, which she fiercely defends. During the winter and fall, she is busy building her nest, laying eggs, and raising her chicks. In the summer and fall, she rests and recuperates, molts into her beautiful new plumage, while living life perching, feeding, and chasing other hummingbirds in the yard.

We are looking forward to December/January to see if she starts nesting again! Our LIVE streams will follow her and her chicks, documenting their amazing lives from nest building to egg laying, hatching, feeding, growth, fledging, and beyond.
